In between time
How are you feeling these days? It feels to me as if we are living in an “in between time”, as we try and work out the best way to engage with one another again yet keep everyone safe. This time of pandemic has been a long haul and it’s still with us. I find these words from Clara Engel helpful
There’s this fear and sadness, but also a calm deliberation… holding on tenuously to the feeling that things will bloom in some way again.
where will we bury our dead?
somewhere over the rainbow
between stardust and flesh
Clara speaks of the seed for the song “The garden is sleeping” being planted during the pandemic in late fall, during a walk past dormant city garden plots with signs that read ‘shhh…the garden is sleeping.’ The phrase stuck with her and became a poetic song, which feels very much of this time.
This time is somewhere between relentless doom & gloom and unfounded positivity. It is where we take responsibility for our neighbour by living compassion, ensuring that the garden of all our lives will bloom again.
