Beach United was awarded a Neighbourhood Grant from the Starbucks Foundation for the second year in a row. This award is thanks to a nomination from our local Starbucks partners at 1960 Queen St. East, who recognized the food justice work of our Interfaith Lunch Program at Beach United. For the full list of 2024 Neighbourhood Grants, please click here (PDF).
We want to thank our friends at Starbucks for nominating us – we are grateful to be able to continue nurturing our community!
We are currently looking for volunteer fixers for our Repair Café on Saturday, July 20th from 9am-12pm at Beach United. If you enjoy fixing small household items, bikes and clothing and would like to volunteer, please reach out to Mary Anne.
We will have more information on the Repair Café event shortly!
Yesterday, we held an appreciation lunch for our Thursday Lunch Program volunteers. They do so much for us throughout the year – everything from greeting, to setting up the rooms and tables, cleaning and putting away dishes, making coffee and tea, baking treats and desserts, and of course preparing the sandwiches and the meals we serve to our guests.
Yesterday, our volunteers themselves were treated to a meal that was graciously made Jim Winn. The menu featured:
Cream of Tomato Soup Chicken Chili Potato Chickpea Curry Oven-roasted Green Beans Green Salad Blueberry Pie Assorted Desserts
We also want to thank Hastings Withers for organizing the lunch for everyone!
Thank you again to all of our lunch volunteers who help make Beach United so welcoming, and for helping feed our community all year-round 🫶
