Queer Youth United

Queer Youth United (QYU) will taking a break for the month of July 2024. We will meet again in August! We post updates on our Instagram account over at @queeryouthunited, which is maintained by our coordinator, Corin Collins. Learn more about Corin here!

QYU usually meets on Thursdays from 4-7pm – you may drop in at any time between those hours.

QYU is a 2SLGBTQ+ youth group for ages 15-29, where you can come and engage with others in a safe space within the community, while sharing meals, finding support and resources.

The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighbourhood Grant Recipient

As part of The Starbucks Foundation’s Neighbourhood Grants program, Beach United Church was selected to receive a $2,700 grant. This grant award is thanks to a nomination from our local Starbucks partner at 1960 Queen St. East, who recognized the food justice work at Beach United.

Through this unique program, The Starbucks Foundation invites Starbucks partners to nominate a local organization in their community. Since 2019, more than 10,000 grants have been awarded to local organizations, amounting to more than $15 million.

To learn more, please visit:  https://stories.starbucks.com/press/2021/strengthening-communities-through-neighborhood-grants/

We are so grateful for this grant, and want to thank our friends at Starbucks for nominating us – we are excited to continue our food justice work, and help provide nutritious meals to our community.

The Beach Cares (TBC) is a church and community organization founded in 2015 to sponsor Syrian Refugees. It is a joint project of Beach United Church, The Anglican Church of St. Aidan and members of the local community.

If you’d like to support Beach Cares financially, please consider making a donation at the St. Aidan’s donation site. TBC welcomes volunteers for the ongoing refugee work.

We are seeking sponsors for our Big Band Music Night fundraising event, and silent auction donations within the Beach community.
