Giving Gifts With A Meaning-Meet Beach United’s Christmas Market Makers!

The holidays are a special time of the year. We give thanks for the blessings in our lives, share in the celebration with our loved ones and give gifts to show our appreciation to those we cherish.

This year at Beach United we are providing an opportunity for folks to shop for gifts with a meaning. What do gifts with a meaning mean? Well, for starters all of our 11 vendors have been carefully selected on criteria that reflect their commitment to fair trade practices, ethical production, and/or environmental and social sustainability. Each of the vendors has wonderful stories behind their products. Whether it be how their creations were lovingly handcrafted in their local home studio or sharing information on who the talented people in other parts of the world are that created their products, or how their item directly supports a sustainable initiative. You can feel good about giving these gifts and sharing the wonderful stories behind them to the ones you love.

Each week leading up to the November 17 Christmas Market we will feature each of our vendors. This week we are looking at Jubilee Designs & The Garden Lover.

Jubilee Designs

Jubilee Designs is a Yonge Street Mission initiative focused on providing employment opportunities for homeless and at-youth.
They work with youth employees on their personal and professional goals while giving them employment experience in a positive and engaging environment. Their goal is to encourage natural talents while also helping employees gather skills and experiences that will help them excel in the workforce.

Jubilee Designs will be selling tote bags, silk scarves, zipper pouches, placemats, hand warmers, baby clothes, and Toronto themed tee-shirts all made using recycled materials or sourced from fair-trade Canadian-made supplies. All their products are made by youth, and your purchase will support Jubilee Designs to continue to pay youth staff fair hourly wages, building their skills and confidence and providing tangible employment skills.
