Author Reading with Roxana Spicer

Join us on Monday, February 24th at 7:30pm where author Kim Echlin will be introducing Roxana Spicer. She will be reading from, The Traitor’s Daughter, with a Q&A to follow. We will also be giving away one copy of her book at the reading!

The Traitor’s Daughter is a daughter’s decades-long quest to understand her extraordinary mother, who was born in Lenin’s Soviet Union, served as a combat soldier in the Red Army, and endured three years of Nazi captivity—but never revealed her darkest secrets. It is a true labour of love.

The reading is pay-what-you-can, with proceeds going towards our many community programs. We look forward to seeing you there!

Elections Ontario – Polling Station

On Thursday, February 27th, Beach United Church (140 Wineva Ave.) will be a polling station for the provincial election from 9am-9pm.

In past elections, representatives of various faith communities in Beaches East York, including Beach United, organized all-candidates meetings where they were asked questions on matters of concern to people of faith.

In the current provincial election, the timeframe was too short to organize an all-candidates meeting. A few representatives of local faith communities developed a short list of questions for the candidates. The PDF linked here compiles answers to the questions from each of the candidates. We have also included links to their campaigns and to Beach Metro News, which provide additional information on the candidates and their party platforms.
